You’re on the fence. You have strong negative self-talk but it’s somewhat balanced by your positive self-talk. You could benefit from strengthening your positive inner voice.

What you can do to improve your self-talk

Step one is to become aware. This quiz may help you recognize your healthy, positive self-talk and encourage it.

Or it may help your recognize your negative self-talk and realize you need to quiet it. You may be able to do that on your own by rejecting negative messages when you catch yourself thinking them. Then you have to work hard to change your thoughts so they’re kinder and more positive.

You might also consider talking to a counselor about your feelings and self-talk. A counselor can help you learn how to focus on your strengths, boost your confidence and have a healthier attitude toward yourself.
